Programme Overview

Designed for Hong Kong primary students, this course introduces the world of drone technology through hands-on operation and coding practice, developing 21st-century skills. In class, students operate drones equipped with advanced sensors (e.g. laser, optical flow, gyroscope, barometer and AI vision modules), learning stable flight, precise hovering and intelligent recognition. Starting with visual programming software, the course progressively introduces programming concepts and exposure to Scratch, Python and C for remote flight, manual control and collaborative group missions.

Learning focus

  • Understand Drone Flight Principles
  • Master Block-based Flight Coding
  • Apply Sensor Data in Projects
  • Develop Spatial Positioning Skills
  • Develop Team Collaboration Skills

Course highlights

Educational-grade safety drones ensure a safe environment. Theory and practice combined, including indoor and outdoor flight training. Students learn programming for multi-drone coordinated flight.

Competitions & showcase opportunities

  • WhalesBot Drone Challenge
  • School anniversary celebration flight performance
  • STEMCarnival drone show

Future-ready advantages

Children learn like little detectives, breaking complex flight missions into simple commands and designing the drone's 'magic steps', learning computational thinking and logical reasoning to improve problem-solving. They learn how drones fly and how sensors 'see' and 'feel' the world, using visual programming like building blocks and gradually encountering Python and C — laying foundations for deeper computer science study.
The course emphasises 3D spatial control and awareness — students practise drones moving freely in the air, developing focus and precise operation. Facing flight challenges, they think actively, find and solve programming or flight problems, training debugging and scientific inquiry. AI applications show how drones become 'smarter', sparking interest in innovative technology.
